Follow Your Passions and Do What You Love - For Real.

Regan was in market research, but she didn’t want to be. She was a creative spirit, valuing work-life balance dearly. She tried taking jobs in her industry that offered better balance, but finally realized that it wasn't the environment, it was the work itself. It wasn't interesting and she felt she wasn't actually influencing anything. She lacked passion. She knew she wasn’t meant to do something traditional, but she didn’t know what it would look like to do something different. After working with me, she realized her one true passion - travel - could be her career. She did careful research and with guidance, landed a great job that she loves as a travel agent.

Case Study | Michelle:

Abandon Ship! Finding a Better Job When Yours Is Sinking.

Michelle worked as a copywriter at J.C. Penney and knew she was on a ship sinking faster than the Titanic. Layoffs were imminent and everyone knew it. Besides, with a curious mind and a love for her industry, she felt her work had grown stagnant and she wanted to learn and grow. Michelle is great at what she does, and didn’t want to leave all her experience on the table, but after 14 years at her company, she was terrified about how hard it would be to get hired. After coaching with me, Michelle was able to identify what she wanted, and didn’t want, in her next job, and have the confidence and skill to land that job within a few short months of starting her work with me. In fact, she started her new job just before the next round of layoffs hit - some affecting her immediate co-workers.

"I want to thank you once again for our Skype coaching session. After it, I made my decision with an offered job. I will go for it, beginning next month. It's a new beginning, with some openness and, partly just because of that, also with several possibilities.

I believe that our conversation helped me to be more clear about what step to take next.
I am grateful for your help, Jess, thank you!!!"

Where Would You Be Happy Just To Sweep The Floor?

Mike called me in a panic, desperate to leave his job. He knew his days in his job as an Inside Sales Manager were numbered - layoffs would be coming soon. Turns out, he was right. He was laid off shortly after starting to work with me. Though he had been happy in his work in the past, he hadn’t been happy in his last several jobs, and something needed to change - but what? Mike and I set out to find his “sweep-the-floor companies.” Companies he’d be so excited to work for that he’d be happy just sweeping the floor there. Once we figured out what those were, we could use that information to help us build an ideal company profile. Just two short months later, Mike landed a fantastic and challenging role at an amazing company where he’s been happy ever since.

Vicki had a big breakthrough that changed everything.

"I began working with Jess a little over a year ago when I was seemingly stuck in a job I hated. Using lots of questions and careful listening, she helped me brainstorm some possible well-suited careers based on my interests and abilities. After a lot of ambivalence and resistance on my part, however, she could see there was more to the situation. She continued to work with me, but changed her approach. She used her intuition and insight to help me clear a big psychological block that I wasn’t even aware that I had. Once she removed this barrier, I was able to take specific steps to get to the job I have today. Without her help, I probably would have stayed stuck forever. Thank you, Jess! I am deeply grateful."

toxic work environment

"Working with Jessica Sweet was absolutely the right thing for me and it came at the right time. I'd been wanting to transition from my job for years, but the status of “wanting” is where it stayed. Once I started working with Jess, I knew the change was actually going to happen! It was very exciting. She helped me decide my new direction which was not only a new job, but a new field too. I'm in the last module of coaching training, just 6 more classes! I'll be hired under a contract for PTSD intervention. It's all very exciting!

She gave me insight of where to find the information I needed for my transition and wouldn't let me talk myself out of it. That's where having a coach is priceless! She kept me accountable and on track. She gave me wonderful tips to help me boost my confidence and self-esteem. She is simply amazing! I'd recommend her to anyone who's looking to change jobs or careers."

Thank you so much Jess!!

"I have been meaning t write to you for so long. I don't know if you remember working with me or not: Leah Murphy from Oxford MA. It was a number of years ago. I thought I should update you on my success. You had a lot to do with it!

I decided to apply for a job as a bank teller as I thought it would be a good job for me for a few reasons. I would be able to dress up, use my "people" skills, work part time (my son is now 9).

[After about a year] they told me that they wanted me to be a Relationship Banker . . . WOW was I surprised!

I asked if I could add 5 more hours a week to get full health benefits for my family and they agreed. I LOVE MY JOB! I work with some really great people and I absolutely love my customers. I have received a number of accolades for "WOW" Moments for great customer service, a security award for catching a criminal, certificates for reaching above and beyond my sales goals, monetary incentives for sales - the list goes on and on. . . 3 raises and a bonus this Christmas. I couldn't be more happy!!!!!

I really don't think I could have come this far without your help and positive influence on me and my abilities. You made me think, contemplate and make me reach for something I didn't know I could do.

Thank you so much for your coaching!

Sharon chose quality of life, without leaving salary behind.

Our time was so helpful to me. While our conversations seemed in some ways very casual your questions and probing really gave me pause to think. In facing the sense that I might get laid off (which I was right about), and wondering about starting my own business - I was really at a crossroad and struggling. While I wanted to find more meaningful work, and get out of the corporate rat race so to speak, I wasn't quite ready to jump out of my salary. With a child entering high school, it was too soon.

As it happened, I was laid off but had 3 terrific jobs to select from as well as an option to start a business with some friends, In the end, in great part due to our conversations, I ended up taking a job which was absolutely ideal for me at this stage of life. While I opted to delay entrepreneurial adventures, I took a job which is extremely rewarding. While still very satisfying financially, I actually chose the job which offered the lowest salary - but which offers a great sense of purpose and a solid quality of life.

I truly don't think I would have landed where I am had it not been for your guidance and helping me really think hard and evaluate where my priorities lie.

Thanks so much for your help Jessica! I would happily recommend you to others looking for support at a juncture. You are gently probing while being respectful, curious and insightful, not to mention a great listener who can summarize and feed back some very important dimensions to the conversation.

A.J. moved from a boring government job to a creative industry

I'd say the biggest hurdle for me to find a job in my dream industry, work for a company whose values I could appreciate, have work-life balance and still pay my bills. I did not think that could exist and going through the coaching process with you helped me to realize that it did. Most of all, I didn't have to move and I can even walk to my workplace!

When I think back on it, it is actually pretty impressive that I got (almost) everything I wanted on my dream checklist. No job is perfect, of course, but I still think I got very lucky (with a lot of guidance from you, obviously).

Zack went from lacking direction to setting the standard in his industry.

Most people don't take the time to answer the important questions or even be able to ask themselves what makes them happy, what motivates them, and what their passion is. Jessica was great at helping to identify and communicate what I was looking for, and to comb through my thoughts and be able to pull constructive direction from them. While it's up to you to drink, Jessica does great work at leading you to the trough.

And just look at what he’s doing!!

Jessica was instrumental in helping me discover what career path I wanted to take upon completion of my MBA. I entered my MBA program with the intent to make a major career switch and my wide open landscape of options of was stressing me out beyond belief. In talking with Jessica, she helped me separate the emotions and stress that I was feeling from the rational points I needed to make a decision. She helped me make an enormous decision by breaking it down into pieces that felt more manageable, combined with weekly to-dos that would help me make forward progress every step of the way. Through her thoughtful and probing questions, Jessica helped me discover critical things about myself – what motivates me and gets me out of bed every morning, both from a personal and professional perspective. Without having discovered these critical traits about myself, I never would have made a career decision that would have made me happy. Now after completing my MBA and entering my new job, I feel more prepared, confident and happy with the decision I made. I now have the tools I need to analyze and break down similarly large decisions moving forward. Jessica was instrumental in helping me discover my underlying professional ambitions and I would recommend her to anyone looking to make a major career transition in their life.

I worked with Jessica Sweet recently when I was exploring a shift in my career and personal life. From the first interaction, I knew that we’d work well together. While certainly there was business to be done, our sessions always started out with checking in on what was going on in my life in addition to the core purpose of our sessions. I appreciated her wanting to know more about me and my life in addition to my goals. Integrating all aspects of my life resulted in a refined the approach to the desired change I am making.

Much of my work was in the form of soul searching. Her insight in to my situation was accurate and in the very first session, I had an “aha” moment that was very empowering and exciting. Jess lead me to create my own action plans and from there held me accountable in an encouraging and supportive manner. We addressed both short and long term steps I needed to take as I moved toward the desired transition in my life.

I came away with a better understanding of myself and clearer goals with the confidence to achieve them.

As a first time coaching client, I found the experience to be well worth the time and effort. I recommend Jess to others who are looking for someone to guide them on their path to a more fulfilled life.

Working with Jessica was/is a great experience. I had tried 4 different coaches in the past 6-9 months and none of them really listened. They were more like cheerleaders, rah-rahing me no matter which way I turned. And when you are searching, you can go in many directions! Along comes Jessica who listens not just to what I’m saying in words but what I’m not saying. She was the first one to tell me: “Are you sure that’s something you want to do? Are you not afraid you’d get bored?” – this was bang-on! I had a feeling that it was not the right path but allowed others to encourage me to go in that direction anyway.

Jess helped me discover my true motivations in work. She always had a way of asking the right questions to lead me down the path of self discovery. My time spent with her has caused me to think differently about the rest of my career and choices I will face.

I called Wishingwell Life Coaching when I realized that there was something missing in my life. That there was more out there for me to do, with my life and for my life. I was suffering and so was my family. Jessica has helped me in so many ways. She has such a wonderful way about her, talking to her is like talking to a best friend. She listens and does not judge. She has helped me to realize and understand why I feel the way I feel. She is helping me to accept the changes that have taken place in my life and move forward in a positive manner. I feel that I now have the ability to do this. She is helping me put together the pieces that are missing, in my everyday life, my relationship with my family and friends and in finding a job/career that will be fulfilling. I know now that nothing is unattainable. Through this process I have learned so much about myself. With great appreciation I thank Jessica for all she has done and continues to do with me and for me.

Jessica helped give me direction to begin and complete my goals. The pointed and directive questions place you out of your comfort zone and onto a path of your own choosing. It is a path of therapeutic growth and self understanding that is well worth the effort.

Many times while working with Jess she insisted that I really could be happy, find my passion and do what I love to do. The big problem was, how do I unravel myself from what I thought I should be doing, and find that one thing that would make me happy? Well I’m delighted to report that I finally got it! This week I decided to leave a job that, although paid the bills, did not bring any satisfaction and in fact was beating me down. Because of Jess’ thoughtful questioning, empathetic listening and incredible insight into the human mind, I now have the clarity & peace of mind to realize that there is something special out there waiting for me, and she has given me the strength and determination to follow thru on it. Thanks Jess!

Jessica helped me get on the right path to finding a new job. My frustration and venting to family and friends was more like a broken record than a helpful dialogue. I was in a rut. One of my family members suggested that I try a life coach. I was skeptical, but willing to give anything a shot. I met with a couple life coaches that simply didn’t feel right. When I spoke with Jessica, however, I felt at ease. Jessica was always pleasant, professional, and insightful during our sessions. An excellent listener, Jessica’s suggestions stem from what she is hearing about you – from you. Her objectivity, gives her a unique ability to focus on your problems or concerns. She is not dealing with the extra baggage that is inevitable when talking with family and friends. Her only focus is you and what you’re telling her. Likewise, her feedback is focused and poignant. She kept me honest with myself – about myself and my goals. She also helped me clarify what I want and showed me to a path of achievement. I highly recommend Jessica as a life coach.

Jess's ability to listen closely coupled with her knowledge of the modern career landscape allowed me to tame the noise surrounding taking a big step.
I was very thankful to have Jess 'on my team', and she asked some pointed questions that made me think in a most productive way.
I was also amazed that she was able to put into words things about my current job that I had not been able to articulate.

"I hired Jessica for some coaching around negotiating a compensation package for a new job. She was fantastic, got me to think of what I wanted and needed in a different way, thought of things that I didn't even think of, and helped me re-frame the conversation so that I got the package that I wanted (and deserved). Very, very valuable."

We had 6 to 10 coaching sessions – and I will tell you – she truly helped me get through some very difficult times.

She asked great questions – that brought up issues – and helped me think through those – with the safety of time and space, and wise counsel.

Jessica has built a business from scratch – and is now a guest blogger in well regarded places like the Huffington Post.

If starting your own business ends up being an option or choice for you – she can actually help guide you and how to do it – with advice "from the trenches." She has done so, and quite successfully. There are many things she does, and has done, that are worth emulating.

The questions we ask ourselves – and those which wise counselors ask us – open up possibilities in our lives. What's the right next step for you? What are the things you need to resolve in your own mind – decisions that need to be made- conversations that need to be had – for you to get there? Jessica is very gifted at asking probing questions.

My final comment: I asked Jessica to please share this letter with you – she did not ask me to write it, and she did not ask me to say anything specific in this space.

I simply know the value of having a genuine customer share their experience – to help you or anyone else make a great decision.

My work with Jessica changed my life. After one career change that didn't work well, I knew I needed to find meaningful work but had no idea how to get there. Through our discoveries and conversations, Jessica led me on a new pathway to graduate school and a future in non-profit service. Jessica is someone you can trust to offer honest advice and take the time to accurately direct you to your best-fit. I've now recently finished a master's degree in a new field and have a wonderful job in a new city. Jessica was a pivotal element to this change, and I would recommend her services to anyone.

Jess thank you so much! You have been an inspiration, a motivator and the power behind restarting. You have in every step reminded me that it is never too late to do something you love and practically showing me how changing what I had been doing for the past 15 years can mean building on it rather than throwing those years away. What I appreciated most, is that it was not a just reassuring pat on the back. You are so action oriented, so full of ideas and constructive feedback, that in every single session you made a huge difference. I am very glad I met you and looking forward to working on the next phase with you! Thank you!

Working with Jessica was a very positive experience. She initially helped me address some “low hanging fruit” which was causing stress and distracting me from more important things. As we continued to work together, she helped me identify what I was looking for in a job/career. Her approach worked well for me. She ensured she understood the full picture of “me and my life”. She held me accountable and challenged me in a way that helped me progress. Through our work together, I realized an overhaul wasn’t needed, but my small changes have made a big impact on my level of daily satisfaction. I would strongly recommend working with Jessica!
